Vinyl Siding = Value

Unlike other siding, vinyl siding does not require much cleaning or maintenance, and it never needs painting because it's a solid color throughout. When it begins to look drab or dirty, you can rent a pressure washer -- most recommend one rated at 2,500 - 3,000 pounds per square inch (psi), with a 25-degree nozzle. These rent for approximately $50 per day, so you may want to pressure-wash whatever else you can to make it worth your while.

Before utilizing the pressure washer, you'll want to cover up anything electrical that you don't want to hit. it is important to wear safety glasses, and move methodically side-to-side, from bottom to top, holding the pressure-washer at a slightly upwards angle so that you're not firing directly at the house at any point. This is particularly important around window areas, if you choose to pressure-wash those as well.

When the pressure-wash is complete, rinse each side of the house, starting from the top and moving downwards.

Cleaning Vinyl Siding: Hand-Washing
If spot stains appear, vinyl siding can be cleaned with a soft cloth or toothbrush. Windex®, Fantastic®, and other common household cleaners work well for this. It is far too laborious to clean the entire exterior siding by hand, so hand-washing should be reserved for particularly noticeable stains or problem areas.
